SCREAMERS!
Have A Great Weekend!
Segal vs. Seagal!
Not many film fans would confuse George Segal with Steven Seagal (or even Jonathan Livingston Seagull) — but I thought it might be a fun movie poster smackdown anyway!
Besides, Seagal’s getting up there in years and his martial arts/action roles have been tapering off so he will soon probably start playing the goofy, wisecracking father/boss/lawyer (á la De Niro in Meet The Parents) that Segal has so mastered over the years. (via ImpAwards)
Guess Again!
All this guessing around made me think of Claudia Schiffer and pre-reality show tragic figure, Anna Nicole Smith.
Remember when those two blonde bombshells channeled Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe for Georges Marciano’s Guess Jeans ad campaign? You couldn’t look at a billboard or pick up a magazine in the early 90’s without seeing photographer Ellen Von Unwerth’s luscious, cinematic black-and-whites of these babes. And no doubt the world is better for it!
Flirting With Disasters!
Prior to director David O. Russell’s Oscar nom this week for The Fighter, the former Flirting With Disaster filmmaker was tragically becoming known more for fighting with Lily Tomlin than making films. But with the passage of time comes wisdom…so who says we all can’t learn something from such disasters?
MLK Day in the USA
It’s hard to believe that Hollywood hasn’t made a big budget biopic on civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. (not counting the little-seen 1978 TV miniseries with Paul Winfield). You would think if they can make movies about Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, and even Notorious B.I.G., then surely MLK is more than ready for his close-up.
Me and My Movie Posters…
It’s like a movie poster musical: “You and me…and me and you…”
Year of the Rabbit
According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, which begins on February 3 and ends on January 22. So even though we might be jumping the gun, let’s get a headstart on the new year…
