French Cape Fear!
Black Rock Friday!
The indie female-driven thriller, Black Rock, washes up at movie theatres this weekend — and I’m digging the new spin on a classic taken by Ignition Print for the one-sheet. Inspired by such designers as Bill Gold (Deliverance), Jason Munn (Treasure Island Music Festival), and Steve Frankfurt (Rosemary’s Baby), this Black Rock poster is solid! (IMP)

So many remakes, so little time…If you have a hard time remembering (or even knowing about) the forefathers of some of today’s films — take a look at IMP’s excellent ‘Remakes vs. Originals’ movie poster breakdown! (IMP)
Beauvais on Paper
Just in case you missed Eddie Shannon of Film on Paper‘s in-depth interview with British poster artist legend, Tom Beauvais, check it out here.(FilmOnPaper)
And while you’re at it, read up on FOP’s other chat with UK designer, Brian Bysouth.
I’ll Be Damned!
Akiko Stehrenberger is going to hell — okay, just movie poster hell — but that’s a good thing, as her haunting new Kiss of the Damned one-sheet is sure to become a horror poster classic.
Part 90s Great Expectations, part 70s Bob Peak, Stehrenberger adapts the spirits of artists’ past to create something memorable. (IMP)
More Horror!
I’m not much of a horror movie fan, but I finally got a chance this weekend to look at Kirk Hammett of Metallica’s movie poster/memorabilia book, Too Much Horror Business — and was mesmerized by his scary pre-1940’s collection.
There’s also a revealing interview with Hammett, in which he details his poster collecting habits and how he has avoided the “celebrity tax” by hiring a fellow collector to do his bidding for him. (AllPosterForum)
Carrie On…
If you’re excited about the new Carrie reboot hitting theatres in March 2013, then you’re going to have to wait a little longer — as the film’s release has been pushed back to October 18, 2013 — just in time to capitalize on the pre-Halloween crowd. (IMP)
Evil Dead Again…
What’s new is still dead. (IMP)
