The indie female-driven thriller, Black Rock, washes up at movie theatres this weekend — and I’m digging the new spin on a classic taken by Ignition Print for the one-sheet. Inspired by such designers as Bill Gold (Deliverance), Jason Munn (Treasure Island Music Festival), and Steve Frankfurt (Rosemary’s Baby), this Black Rock poster is solid! (IMP)
After reading that yesterday would’ve been Marilyn Monroe’s 85th birthday, I also learned that Bill Gold hired Richard Avedon, the late world reknown fashion photographer, to do the photography for one of her most famous movie posters, The Prince and The Showgirl.
Bill Gold Advertising is undoubtedly one of the most successful poster design companies in the history of the movie business. This New Yorker was chiefly known for his productive relationships with Bob Peak and Clint Eastwood, with whom he worked with for over 30 years of his movies.
