It has not been a good week for high-profile women as we’ve already lost Margaret Thatcher and Annette Funicello — and it’s only Tuesday.
And now comes word that Sara Montiel, the Spanish actress of Vera Cruz and other English language films, has died at the age of 85. In terms of crossing over to the Hollywood mainstream, Ms. Montiel was before her time — however, as you can see below, her attractive portfolio of movie posters are timeless! Bert Stern has worked with Hollywood’s biggest stars — and shot the movie poster for Lolita, as well as the recent Taschen book on Marilyn Monroe. And now there’s a new documentary about the photographer called Bert Stern: Original Mad Man.(Film/Art)
The new poster for The 2013 Cannes Film Festival is a tribute of sorts to the 1960s Paul Newman-Joanne Woodward starrer, A New Kind of Love — although I’ve always had a deep crush on the French version by Roger Soubie (top right). (DHD)
