Like most movie stars, even great poster artists sometimes did the work for a paycheck. Case in point: this scary-looking Mexican horror flick by Italian legend, Ezio Tarantelli, called Korang: Night of the Bloody Apes — as he appears alongside his weird French cousin.
It’s refreshing to see new one-sheets that pay homage to their elders, as does Steven Soderbergh’s latest flick, Side Effects. (IMP)
Heritage Auctions is putting on another one of their Movie Poster Signature Auctions Nov. 29-30 in Dallas, Texas this week — and I’m pretty high on their lots from Italian master, Luigi Martinati (of the infamous BCM Studio – aka Ballester Capitani Martinati) — who created all the elegant manifestos below.
Okay, Halloween’s Thanksgiving’s over — so how ’bout we take off that mask? And btw, how come this trendy 1970’s look went out of style for bank robbers and thugs? Judging from these foglis, Italian artist MOS, aka Mario De Berardinis, did his darnedest for posterity! (EMP)
If the names Flisak, Mlodozeniec, and Swierzy make your eyeballs go in a tizzy, then you’ll be thrilled to witness the Iluzjon of beautiful Polish movie posters on display at 18 Hewett Street in London this week (Oct. 19-29), compliments of EyeSeaPosters and Protein.
There’s also a special preview night on Oct. 18 where I’m sure the Polish vodka will be honored as well!
