Elizabeth Taylor Dies

Elizabeth Taylor, one of Hollywood’s great golden beauties, has died at the age of 79. Known for her sexy screen presence and a tumultuous romantic life, most notably a torrid on-and-off affair with fellow actor, Richard Burton, Ms. Taylor spent the latter chapter of her life dedicated to many charity causes, including fighting AIDS. Long live the queen!

River of No Returns!

Although it’s not a super popular Marilyn Monroe film, the movie poster for River of No Return surely begs to differ…in all its different versions!

All That Jazz…

Speaking of Billie Holiday, here’s a few more jazzy movie posters featuring the music biopics of Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, and Thelonious Monk (the latter two films of which were produced by superstar jazz fan, Clint Eastwood).

And if jazz trumpet is your thing, you might also dig these Chet Baker movie posters by famed fashion photog, Bruce Weber.

Lady Day Smackdown!

No, this is not a Diana Ross tribute — but more like a movie poster celebration of Billie Holiday, the greatest female Jazz singer in history! The minimalist movie poster in the middle was created by legendary movie ad firm, Diener Hauser. (via IMP)

Jane Russell Dies

Jane Russell has died at the age of 89. Having busted out in the 1970’s as the commercial spokesperson for the ‘Cross Your Heart’ bra, the buxom bombshell will be forever remembered for her sultry turns in The Outlaw and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, as well as a whole bounty of smokin’ movie posters…

Angelique Smackdown!

Sweet as angelico, sexy as Angelina Jolie…Here’s an International smackdown of the 1964-65 Angelique / Angelica movies — from the Italians (by artists, Ciriello, top left, and Putzu, top far right), the French, Belgian, and Polish.

Happy St. Valentine’s Day Massacre!

I know it isn’t exactly romantic considering today’s holiday, but I’ve always loved this Boris Grinsson-designed French grande of Roger Corman’s cult Capone classic, Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre (1967).

Remake Monday: Just Go With It

Although the trailer looks more like a remake of the Blake Edwards’ Bo Derek-starrer, 10, the new Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston-Brooklyn Decker movie, Just Go With It, is actually based on the late 1960s Walter Matthau-Goldie Hawn film, Cactus Flower.

By the way, the Cactus Flower one-sheet below was done by Bond designer legend, Robert McGinnis; and the voluptuous 10 by American beauty, John Alvin. (via ImpAwards)

Have A Great Weekend!
