About russ

Russ Ryan is an avid fan of movie posters -- sometimes even more so than the actual movies themselves! But he's not just a poster geek, he also was lucky enough to have a film produced by the makers of AMERICAN PIE -- the classic, unforgettable, much less successful National Lampoon presentation, REPLI-KATE, starring Ali Landry, James Roday, and Eugene Levy.

What’s Your Poison?

From Boris Grinsson and Clement Hurel come these two pretty poisonous posters!

Keep On Truckin’

Here’s some International vintage posters from two classic film noir trucker films, The Long Haul (featuring the heavy workloads of Anselmo Ballester, Georges Kerfyser, and Hans Braun, respectively, in order on the top row) and Thieves Highway (Boris Grinsson, bottom).

Mac World!

Welcome to the wonderfully passionate world of Spanish movie poster artist, Macario “Mac” Gomez. I could go on and on about this legend, but I think you’ll find Masats Xavier’s all things Mac Gomez blog much more complete and in depth (note: use the Google Translate button if you don’t speak Español).

Poster-Texting?

Looking for some elegant literary wall art? Welcome to PosterText, a Canadian publishing company that is creating minimalist posters for such lit/film classics as Moby Dick, The Great Gatsy, Hearts of Darkness, The Wizard of Oz, and more! (from QuirkBooks)

International Bonds

With the world’s financial markets going into the toilet, now might be a good time to buy Bonds. That’s right — James Bond! Specifically, these International beauties from Italian designers, Giorgio Olivetti (top row) and Averardo Ciriello (bottom left), as well as French kingpin, Boris Grinsson (bottom right). The Future Is Back!

Heads up: Miranda July’s new critically-acclaimed film, The Future, is going wider this week and it looks like the indie darling director/performance artist is getting ready for her close-up — even if her cerebral style is sometimes a little upside down!

(Btw, the famous Bob Dylan poster below on the bottom right is by NY design legend, Milton Glaser.) (via ImpAwards)

Barbie Does Farrah

They’re calling it Dolls With Benefits as Mattel’s Barbie Doll is paying homage to the classic 1976 Farrah Fawcett swimsuit poster by releasing a new doll based on the ex-Charlie’s Angel, with a portion of each sale going to The Farrah Fawcett Foundation.
