About russ

Russ Ryan is an avid fan of movie posters -- sometimes even more so than the actual movies themselves! But he's not just a poster geek, he also was lucky enough to have a film produced by the makers of AMERICAN PIE -- the classic, unforgettable, much less successful National Lampoon presentation, REPLI-KATE, starring Ali Landry, James Roday, and Eugene Levy.

Motorin’ Movie Posters

To paraphrase a line from Stripes, “I like fast cars and fast women!”

Well, if you’re Paul Veysey, you might amend that to “fast movie posters”, as the author of Motor Movies – The Posters! has put together a turbo-charged collection of some of the hottest one sheets on wheels on his website, DrivePast, which also includes a nice vintage selection of pre-1950’s models…Vroom, vroom!

Super Bowl Trailers

ScreenRant has the starting lineup of movie trailers to be aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl…

Segal vs. Seagal!

Not many film fans would confuse George Segal with Steven Seagal (or even Jonathan Livingston Seagull) — but I thought it might be a fun movie poster smackdown anyway!

Besides, Seagal’s getting up there in years and his martial arts/action roles have been tapering off so he will soon probably start playing the goofy, wisecracking father/boss/lawyer (á la De Niro in Meet The Parents) that Segal has so mastered over the years. (via ImpAwards)

Best of Bardot

Monday’s mention of Claudia Schiffer doing her best Brigitte Bardot in the Guess Jeans ads made me realize…why not show the real thing? After all, it’s no accident that many of the world’s greatest French poster artists — including Rene Peron, Jean Mascii, Guy Gerard Noel, and Clement Hurel — have done some of their best work to capture her.

Though by no means a definitive list, here’s a few of Bardot’s best…

Symeoni Does Bardot

…but wait, let’s not forget these classic Bardots (And God Created Woman, The Night Heaven Fell) by Italian Stallion, Sandro Symeoni! (via DominiqueBesson)

All Eyes on EMoviePoster.com

The World of Movie Posters auction closes today at the good ol’ EMP and I’ve got my eye on a few strange beauties…

Remake Monday: Guess Who?

It’s another movie poster matchup: Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner (1967) vs. the race-reverse casting of Guess Who (2005).

Guess Again!

All this guessing around made me think of Claudia Schiffer and pre-reality show tragic figure, Anna Nicole Smith.

Remember when those two blonde bombshells channeled Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe for Georges Marciano’s Guess Jeans ad campaign? You couldn’t look at a billboard or pick up a magazine in the early 90’s without seeing photographer Ellen Von Unwerth’s luscious, cinematic black-and-whites of these babes. And no doubt the world is better for it!
