A Starlet Is Born

Move over Papa Ernie, there’s a new Hemingway hitting the silver screen — Dree Hemingway, the daughter of Mariel Hemingway, who will be making her big starring debut in Starlet at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, March 9-17 — and the one-sheet bears a striking resemblance to her mother’s star turn in Star 80 as well as her late Aunt Margaux’s flick, Lipstick. On The Road…Again?

I love Jack Kerouac –– but surely the studio can come up with something more original than this one-sheet for such an American literary classic as On The Road, right? (ImpAwards)

Silent House Is Deafening…

The new Sundance slasher pic, Silent House, starring that other Olsen sister, Elizabeth — has a new “virtual” one-sheet out. Is this the wave of the future for the movie poster?

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t play well with Flash, so you’ll have to check it out HERE!

Zabriskie Point by Glaser?

I recently came across MUBI’s Movie Poster of the Day Tumblr blog –– and was delighted to discover Milton (“I ❤ NY”) Glaser‘s Polish style-inspired version of Zabriskie Point (top), accompanied of course by the more familiar USA versions below.

Grinsson Meets Gilda

As Julia Roberts’ movie star character once quoted Rita Hayworth in Notting Hill, “They go to bed with Gilda, but they wake up with me…”

Well, vintage movie poster fans should all be so lucky as Adrian Curry of MUBI recently posted a glamorous layout of Rita Hayworth posters done by Italian artist, Anselmo Ballester.

In response to Curry’s Rita rundown, I thought I’d share a few fabulous French versions of the actress beauty by Boris Grinsson –– courtesy of the wonderful poster blog, Art by Grinsson.
