Return of The Mad Men

In a world gone Mad, Jack Davis & Co. had a reunion to talk about the good ol’ crazy days of Mad Magazine. “The usual gang of idiots”, as the writers/illustrators called themselves, have been humoring and horrifying readers with their colorful and off-color comic spoofs since 1952.

No Payne, No Gain!

One of Hollywood’s cleverest directors, Alexander Payne, is coming out with The Descendants this weekend, starring George Clooney. Although Payne’s résumé boasts quality over quantity, let’s hope we see more from him sooner than later.

Also, if you didn’t see his short, but sweetly subtle gem from Paris Je’taime, feel free to sample it below…

Madoff Ripoff!

With this weekend’s release of the Bernie Madoff scandal-inspired caper comedy, Tower Heist, I’d love to see Amy Poehler return to SNL to do her best Ruth Madoff impression since Madam Madoff’s recent appearance on 60 Minutes

Bad Dads.

From now until November 22, the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco is presenting an art show-based-on-a-film(s) called Bad Dads: A Tribute to the Films of Wes Anderson, featuring one of my personal faves, The Royal Tenenbaums

In the Shadow of Stooges

The new teaser poster for The Three Stooges just came out and it looks a little shady!

Adventures in Babysitting 2011?

Fresh off his on-the-Moneyball portrayal, let’s hope that Jonah Hill’s new R-rated-looking PG-13 flick, The Sitter, is as funny and charming as the original PG’d Adventures In Babysitting (w/poster by Drew Struzan). (ImpAwards)

For Young Adults Only…

Jason Reitman, one of the few directors today who has taken a pro-active approach in helping design the movie posters and title sequences for all of his films, has just released the one-sheet for his latest flick, Young Adult.

The comedy stars Charlize Theron as an alcoholic writer of YA novels who returns to her hometown in hot pursuit of her married ex-high school sweetheart. (via THR, ImpAwards, and Art of the Title)

Crazy Stupid Movie Posters

Jack Johnson sent in this funny link to a new Funny or Die video featuring Steve Carell’s contractual demands to have the biggest head on all of his film’s movie posters — so CHECK IT OUT!
