Romancing The Font?

NyT Mag profiled screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, the rom-com momma of Hollywood — and if these one-sheets are any indication, it appears that women love the font! (posters via ImpAwards)

The Future Is Back!

Heads up: Miranda July’s new critically-acclaimed film, The Future, is going wider this week and it looks like the indie darling director/performance artist is getting ready for her close-up — even if her cerebral style is sometimes a little upside down!

(Btw, the famous Bob Dylan poster below on the bottom right is by NY design legend, Milton Glaser.) (via ImpAwards)

Poster Ripoff Flashback!

My belated apologies, but methinks the first Oceans 11 remake poster (2001) took some very definite, ahem, creative license from a band called The Smithereens and their much, much lesser-known 1989 album cover, 11.

Such Good Legs!

Wanna see a two-legged movie poster race featuring Such Good Friends (compliments of design guru, Saul Bass) and a 1980’s Charlotte Rampling movie called Mascara? (via IMPAwards)

Batman Copycat?

Yahoo says the new Dark Knight Rises teaser poster has a familiar case of Inception. Luckily, they’re both directed by Christopher Nolan!

Meansheets Wants You…

…to have a fantastic 4th of July weekend! So whether you are from the good ol’ USA or the lovely UK or Europe or somewhere else in this great big beautiful world, I thought I’d celebrate the upcoming American holiday with a slew of Uncle Sam-themed movie posters!

(Btw, the Burt Reynolds Paternity poster is by one of my favorite US artists, the greatly underrated Mr. Birney Lettick.)

Straw Dogs

ImpAwards has the new poster for the upcoming Straw Dogs remake. To paraphrase The Who, “Meet the new dog…same as the old dog!”

Gee, I wonder why they didn’t rip off the old French poster (below) — oh yeah, the MPAA wouldn’t dare touch a one-sheet with such prominent boobs!
