About russ

Russ Ryan is an avid fan of movie posters -- sometimes even more so than the actual movies themselves! But he's not just a poster geek, he also was lucky enough to have a film produced by the makers of AMERICAN PIE -- the classic, unforgettable, much less successful National Lampoon presentation, REPLI-KATE, starring Ali Landry, James Roday, and Eugene Levy.

Timeless?

And just in time from Comic-Con 2011 comes In Time, the new 20th Century Fox sci-fi flick directed by Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show, Gattaca).

Apocalypse New

Taking a page from the Alamo Drafthouse, you might want to check out TommyGood to see some new school artists like Tim Doyle drawing up cool old school movie posters like this…(via Darrell Street)

Rolling Roadshow Poster Sale!

Jason Munn’s minimalist movie poster remakes from The Rolling Roadshow Tour are now on sale for $50 smackers. Get ’em while they’re hot!

(Btw, these copies for sale on Munn’s website are Artists Proofs with an edition of 30 each — if you’re into that kinda thang!)

Enzo Nistri-Damus!

If I could look into my crystal ball and tell you which Italian movie poster artists will stand the test of time, then I think it’s safe to say that Enzo Nistri (not to be confused with Ercole Brini) has established his legacy with a boat load full of enchanting poster designs. Poster Ripoff Flashback!

My belated apologies, but methinks the first Oceans 11 remake poster (2001) took some very definite, ahem, creative license from a band called The Smithereens and their much, much lesser-known 1989 album cover, 11.

Such Good Legs!

Wanna see a two-legged movie poster race featuring Such Good Friends (compliments of design guru, Saul Bass) and a 1980’s Charlotte Rampling movie called Mascara? (via IMPAwards)

Silly Soccer Posters!

In honor of yesterday’s big win by the U.S. soccer team at The Womens World Cup, here’s a few silly soccer-themed movie posters from such great Italian artists as Averardo Ciriello (left) and Ezio Tarantelli (right).

(Btw, I tried, but couldn’t find any pre-70’s vintage movie posters featuring female soccer players!)
