Spielberg Does Tintin
Steven Spielberg is producing a reboot of the classic French comic strip series, The Adventures of Tintin, originally conceived by Belgian artist, Jacques Remi aka Hergé (not to be confused with the similarly comic-influenced French illustrator, Hervé Morvan).
Here’s the newly-released poster (top left), along with an amusing E.T. spoof (top right) from FuckYeah Movie Posters as well as an original 1960’s ad by Raymond Savignac…
Go With Gid!
It’s pretty apparent that Raymond Gid (1905-2000) was a God-fearing man if you judge him by some of his stark, dramatic movie poster designs that reflect deep religious overtones.
Blessed with a mastery of typography, Gid went on to publish a number of books on liturgical and medieval texts — but he did not look down his nose upon commercial illustration, as he later created a set of famous advertising posters for Bally.
Lancy Drew!
Although La Grande Illusion is definitely his magnum opus, Bernard Lancy (1892-1964) has plenty of French grandes that are equally timeless — and he’s one of the select few French artists also commissioned do a Japanese poster (for The Philadelphia Story). (via MoviePosterDB)

Everybody’s favorite Scarface or, at least, the most popular is Al Pacino. But a lot of different actors have tackled the part of the notorious gangleader, or some B-movie bastardized version of the character.
So say hello to my little friends, which were created by the likes of such notorious poster artists as Osvaldo Venturi (bottom, left), Michel Landi (top, 4th on right), Rinaldo Geleng (top, far right), and Constantin Belinsky (bottom, middle).

The Art of Péron
René Péron (1904-1972), the dynamic French artist who was highlighted yesterday for his Caine Mutiny masterpiece, established himself and his art deco style in the 1920’s and never looked back as he designed posters for some of the era’s most memorable films (King Kong, 1933), mixing his rich, vibrant colors and elegant portraiture for six decades. Viva el Péron!
