More Mos!

His name sounds Spanish, but Antonio MOS, aka Mario De Berardinis, is one of the “mos” underrated Italian movie poster designers. Although his credits are mos-ly B-movies, his illustrations and unusual close-up style are mos decidedly A-list as seen below…

Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

This Wednesday, we lost a legend in Elizabeth Taylor, so I thought I’d sign off for the weekend with this lovely AMC tribute done a few years back by her Cat On A Hot Tin Roof co-star/fellow humanitarian actor, Paul Newman

Great Gambit!

With word that CBS Films was gambling on a remake of the original Michael CaineShirley MacLaine heist flick, Gambit (with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz taking over the roles), I couldn’t help but flash back to Boris Grinsson’s extraordinary French Grande (left) and the original US one-sheet…

Elizabeth Taylor Dies

Elizabeth Taylor, one of Hollywood’s great golden beauties, has died at the age of 79. Known for her sexy screen presence and a tumultuous romantic life, most notably a torrid on-and-off affair with fellow actor, Richard Burton, Ms. Taylor spent the latter chapter of her life dedicated to many charity causes, including fighting AIDS. Long live the queen!

The Reel Deal

Also, Reel Art Press is continuing their blitz into the movie poster book biz with the soon-to-be-released, Weddings and Movie Stars.

Although this tomé seems to be more focused on the art of celebrity than poster design, there’s no doubt it will be a handsome publication.

X Marks The Spot!

What you gotta love about EMoviePoster.com is that you can discover some of the “best” worst movie posters ever made, which brings me to these corny porn X-Rated ditties.

Not surprisingly, sexploitation movie posters actually have a small, but loyal fan base as there have been two high-profile books published on the genre, X-Rated: Adult Movie Posters of the 60’s and 70’s, and Trash: The Graphic Genius of Xploitation Movie Posters, both of which happen to be very entertaining…or so I’ve heard!

Green Poster of the Day

It’s certainly not listed in the bargain bin, but if you’ve got the green — then CineMasterpieces has got the slime! (via MoPO)

Strippers!

Yesterday we unleashed Jack The Ripper and today we’re going to lift up the sheets on The Stripper, a little-known 60’s B-movie starring Joanne Woodward who, as you may well know, was happily married to Paul Newman for 50+ years. The top two French versions of the poster were done by French kingpin-up artist, Boris Grinsson.

Jack the Rippers!

Jack The Ripper is one of those reknown British tales of terror that’s been passed down through generations with many different versions, much like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde — and will presumably sooner than later be given the big-budget Major Motion Picture remake á la Sherlock Holmes.

But for the time being, let’s enjoy these killer French movie posters of The Grim Ripper by such designers as Jouineau Bourduge (top left) and the like…
